NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A mini philanthropist from Wilmington is at it again. Gunner Robinson, just 9 years old, collected more than 384 pounds of food for families in need.

Robinson started his Thanksgiving collection efforts on October 13. The fourth grade student delivered some of the food to the soup kitchen at the Salvation Army over the weekend. The rest of the food will go out this week to local food banks. He served last Tuesday at the soup kitchen and will again next Monday.

In August, the Murrayville Elementary School student asked his friends and family to donate shoes to children in need for his 9th birthday. Robinson collected 400 pairs of shoes and donated them to children in Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick counties. Robinson said he doesn't want the attention, he just wants to help.
